I have too many lipsticks, more than the average woman could possibly ever have. And yet, I still have some more that I'm lusting over from brands such as YSL or Besamé.
There's something special about MAC though. When I was a teen, I was so attracted to MAC's bright colored lipsticks and eyeshadows, yet obviously I couldn't afford them. They were the first high end brand that I liked. My mom was more into Clinique and Estee Lauder, yet I thought that they were older lady, more "boring" brands (though that's certainly not the case). I do want to share with you the lipstick shades I own.
Now over the years, I was accumulated a lot of MAC products. I have been meaning to use them, especially to empty them for a free lipstick.
Top–bottom: Retro, Persistence, Taupe, Del Rio, Mocha, Mehr
The Nudes
- Retro (satin finish): The shade I've never stopped shutting up about for 2 years. It is reddish brown nude and looks wonderful on medium skin tones and darker. It's very difficult to find a nude for my skin tone, but I use this for so many different occasions.
- Persistence (matte finish): While other ladies love Velvet Teddy or Whirl, I prefer this warmer brownish nude shade as it shows up on my lips without making me look ghostly.
- Taupe (matte finish): This is a lighter version of Persistence, and I bought it months before. I'm not a fan of it because it hardly shows up on my lips. This is better for fair skinned ladies. But if you share my skin tone, I recommend Persistence more.
- Del Rio (satin finish): This quintessential 90's shade is a cool toned medium brown. Usually I don't like cooler toned nudes as much since I have more of a warmer undertone, but I make an exception to this.
- Mocha (satin finish): This peachy nude is wonderful for medium skin tones as well, and is popular among Asian women (according to the reviews I read about this shade). I haven't picked it up in a while, but it's wonderful for spring!
- Mehr (matte finish): Again, I usually don't like cool-toned lipsticks, but I really like this pinky mauve. It's great for everyday wear!
Top–bottom: D for Danger, All Fired Up, Captive, Girl About Town, Viva Glam Miley Cyrus
The Pinks
- D for Danger (matte finish): There's no specific season for this deep berry shade. It's feminine enough for spring, pigmented enough for summer, and vampy enough for fall, and festive enough for winter. Enough said (haha).
- All Fired Up (retro matte finish): This is my first and only retro matte finish lipstick. This is the driest, and as you can see it tugs against my skin. But it's an extremely pigmented hot pink, and great on all skin tones and outfits.
- Captive (satin finish): This is more of a medium pinkish purple. I haven't picked this up in a while.
- Girl About Town (amplified finish): This cool toned Barbie pink lipstick is extremely comfortable and moisturizing.
- Viva Glam Miley Cyrus (amplified finish): A warmer version of Girl About Town. Unfortunately, this is limited edition and I purchased it in 2015.
Top–bottom: Diva, Studded Kiss, Russian Red
The Reds
- Diva (matte finish): I was torn between this and Rebel for a vampy lipstick, and I was leaning more towards Rebel. But I'm so glad that I purchased this instead. This is definitely one of my fall staples!
- Studded Kiss (matte finish): Here is a warmer version of Diva. Honestly, you don't need both, I just happen to.
- Russian Red (matte finish): Every lady needs a classic red lipstick. I happened to choose this deeper, more sultry one compared to Ruby Woo.
One of these days I'll make a page with a list of dupes for these lipstick shades. And I will write up a collection in dedication to my lipsticks from Anastasia Beverly Hills, Too Faced, Maybelline and NYX.
