Perhaps Miss Manners could weigh in on this: What if you threw a protest and nobody came?
As you may know, supporters of gay marriage participated in a nationwide protest on Saturday, denouncing the passage of California's Proposition 8. According to Associated Press, people "gathered near public buildings in small communities and major cities including New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Chicago."
But things were awfully lonely at Fort Meyer's City Hall in Florida on Saturday, when Jack (Bamboo Nation's 65-year-old gay reader who I wrote a post about a while back) showed up to lend his support and voice to the cause. He was the only one there! I assume he took this photo using the timer function on his camera, since nobody was around to snap the shot for him.
I find this simultaneously funny, infuriating, inspirational, ridiculous, and wonderful. Thank you for being there, Jack. Thank you.
